About the event:

The Main Stage of ETHAL premieres at the Nicosia International Festival with the award-winning play by Mark Medoff "Children of a Lesser God". Lea Maleni, 20 years later, returns with "Children of a lesser God", this time not as a protagonist but as a director, giving her own special look at Medoff's play. The Tony Award-winning play, 42 years after its first theatrical release and 35 years after its successful transfer to the big screen, continues to thrill as it deals with human relationships and their anxious quest for communication.

Attendance at the Event is at 75% of venue capacity with proof of one of the following:
1. For people over the age of 18, entry is allowed with a certificate of a completed vaccination scheme against covid-19 or certificate of release from Covid-19 disease within the last six months or negative PCR test with a validity of 72 hours.
2. For people between the ages of 12-17, negative Rapid or PCR test with a validity of 72 hours or proof of full vaccination.
3. No Certificate needed for children under the age of 12.

More about the event:

James Leeds, a speech therapy teacher who specializes in people with hearing and speech problems, undertakes to teach sign language at a school for the deaf. There he meets the young, also deaf, Sarah and quickly begins a strong love affair between them. Sarah, living on the margins and experiencing social exclusion and rejection even from her loved ones, is closed in her silence and refuses to meet the world of the "normal", which has hurt her so much. Love will unite the two worlds, but James' insistence on making her speak and his refusal to allow her to develop her own personal goals push her unbearably, now feeling that all she receives from him is pity.
