About the event:

The CySO participates in the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the Greek revolution with a programme dedicated to the Cypriot national composer Solon Michaelides (1905-1979), as well as to the Cypriot national poet Vasilis Michaelides (1849 or 1853-1917).
The concert will include the following works by Solon Michaelides: Cantata The Free Besieged (poetry: Dionysios Solomos) for soprano and baritone, the Ballet “Nafsika” from the opera Ulysses, the songs “Your eyes” (poetry: Nikos Kranidiotis) and “My Keryneia” (poetry: Kypros Chrysanthis) for soprano and orchestra, orchestrated by Mikis Michaelides, “The prayer of the humble one” (poetry: Zacharias Papantoniou) and “Aigia i kotchini” (Cypriot pastoral song) for baritone and orchestra, as well as the Cypriot National Anthem for orchestra. CYBC’s historic video-recording from 1975 of «Romiosyni» (“The Greek race”) by Vasilis Michaelides, set into music for mixed choir by Solon Michaelides, with the composer conducting the “Aris” Choir of Limassol will be also be shown during the event.
Excerpts from Vasilis Michaelides’ poem “The 9th July 1821” will be read as part of the event.

Attendance at the Event is at 75% of venue capacity with proof of one of the following:
1. For people over the age of 18, entry is allowed with a certificate of a completed vaccination scheme against covid-19 or certificate of release from Covid-19 disease within the last six months or negative PCR test with a validity of 72 hours.
2. For people between the ages of 12-17, negative Rapid or PCR test with a validity of 72 hours or proof of full vaccination.
3. No Certificate needed for children under the age of 12.
