The Larnaca 2030 Organization, seeking to promote female narratives in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, is pleased to welcome project SEASON Women to our city with the staged reading of DIDO/ELISSA or a wandering tale that aims to highlight marginalized narratives belonging to women and to revise, through the lens of gender, narratives that are considered classic and universal. It is a fascinating wander through the stories that define us — a quest for the stories that have been lost. The play brings to the theatre stage, for the first time, the unknown story of Dido, or Elissa, the legendary princess from Tyre who founded Carthage. The stories we share unite us, shape us, but can also trap us within invisible walls. Some are relegated to the margins, along with the cultures that gave birth to them.
