More about the event:

Two internationally known lyric singers, Chryso Makariou, the renowned Cypriot soprano, and Filip Bandzak, the acclaimed Czech baritone, alongside the ensemble of the widely known Vienna Classic Orchestra, promise to enchant you with their exquisite performance.

The wonderful Czech barytone, Filip Bandzak, soloist at the prominent Mariinsky Theatre, has performed in some of the greatest theatres worldwide and has won some of the biggest international contests such as the Grand Prix award of the international Maria Callas singing competition.

Chryso Makariou, Cypriot soprano based in Vienna, has been characterised by Universal Music Group back in 2022 as one of the most talented artists of our times worldwide with her voice leading the way as the star in a clear skyline. Her accomplishments do not end there as in 2023 she won the first award at the international music contests “Medici International Competition” and “Amadeus Music Awards”.

The Vienna Classic Orchestra performs on a regular basis at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Athens and Thessaloniki Music Halls, as well as at the national theatres of Sofia, Bucharest and Budapest; it consists of amazing musicians renowned at Austrian as well as international level.

This year’s “Viennese Christmas” concert will be hosted by Βambina Themistocleous and will commemorate Maria Callas, the greatest opera Divina of all times. The show will take place on the Greek Divina’s birthday date, December 2nd, celebrating on stage the 100th anniversary from the day she was born. UNESCO announced the year 2023 to be the Maria Callas year being dedicated to this magnificent talent that changed the history of Opera.

The audience will have the opportunity to experience the Christmas spirit surrounding the Viennese capital during this festive season by witnessing breathtaking interpretations of arias from roles that defined the carrier of La Divina, widely known Christmas songs, as well as Viennese waltzes and polkas!

That evening will be purely enchanting as the concert will be accompanied by the angelic voices of the Children’s Choir of “Epilogi” Cultural Movement, as directed by the maestro Corina Vasiliou, as well as by the incredible young talents of Music Schools of the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

The show will be held under the auspices of the Cyprus Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Dr. Athina Michailidou and with the support of the First Lady, Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, High Protector of the Cyprus Association for children with cancer and related diseases “One Dream One Wish”.

“Viennese Christmas” is a unique concert taking place ever since 2015; it is an incredible initiative of the committee of the “One Dream One Wish” association while being supported by the Austrian Embassy in Cyprus and the Music Department of Education of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth Cyprus.

All earnings will be given towards the Association’s charity mission.
