SILENCE - CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT WITH TRIO OSTINATO
Where: PALLAS THEATRE NICOSIA
When: 07/12/2025
Tickets: €15 | €12 (students, pensioners)
Duration: 60'
About the event:
The chamber music concert "Silence" for piano, violin, and percussion, performed by Trio Ostinato, unfolds as a rich mosaic of mythology, music, and the ongoing struggle to make women's voices heard. But this is no ordinary chamber music concert; it is a unique combination of sound and image, which attempts to present Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" and the work "The NEW Success Story" by Haris Sophocleous, as a cry of protest against the many voices that have been silenced or underestimated, while their creativity and autonomy are sacrificed in the name of social expectations.

PROGRAMME
In the first part of the concert, Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" is presented, arranged for piano and marimba by percussion soloist Ksenija Komljenovic. It is a revolutionary work that, like women's struggles, broke conventional boundaries. The themes of sacrifice and renewal in the Rite of Spring echo the historical silencing of women, both in the personal and public spheres. Just as Stravinsky's work sparked a cultural upheaval, this concert seeks to disrupt, reclaiming women's voices and challenging their historical repression. And with this in mind, the concert moves from the Rite of Spring to the modern centennial history of Cyprus, with the play "The NEW Success Story".
Cyprus, with its tumultuous history of conflict and division as recounted in Haris Sophocleous's 'The NEW Success Story', written and dedicated to Trio Ostinato, serves as a poignant backdrop for this exploration. The island has witnessed the struggles of its people, including the resilience of women who have navigated the complexities of identity, culture and conflicts. "Silence" unites myth and music to honor the resilience of these silent women and celebrate the awakening of their voices, finally released into the cosmic expanse.
TRIO OSTINATO
Andri, Viki, and Natasa Hadjiandreou are a rare example of musical collaboration, where family connection meets high-level artistic synergy. As Trio Ostinato, they unite piano, violin, and percussion in a dynamic, innovative chamber music ensemble, redefining the boundaries of classical repertoire and contemporary creation.
Trio Ostinato was founded in 2017 with the support of the Cultural Services of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. Since then, it has presented numerous premieres, collaborated with composers from Cyprus and abroad, and appeared in prominent cultural venues, such as the Cyprus Presidential Palace and the Cyprus House in Athens. Their performances are distinguished for their boldness, their expressive freedom, and the rejuvenating approach to the repertoire.
Their name is no coincidence: just as the musical motif ostinato is persistently repeated and transformed, so they themselves persevere artistically with passion, consistency, and vision. The term "ostinato" becomes a symbol of female resilience, a constant search, and creative resourcefulness.
At the same time, the three artists are also actively involved in cultural design. They are co-founders of the non-profit organizations Arts Embrace (2011) and Curious Qat (2022), to support cultural participation, intercultural exchange, and education through art. Through concerts, educational programs, international collaborations, and innovative productions, they cultivate a lively dialogue among cultures.
Andri, Viki, and Natasa Hadjiandreou, through their collective action, represent a generation of artists who inspire, persevere, and constantly evolve. With sensitivity, boldness, and creativity, they contribute to the formation of a modern and inclusive cultural vision.
CURIOUS QAT CULTURAL ORGANIZATION
Curious Qat Cultural Organization (2022) is the evolution of Arts Embrace Cultural Organization (2011). Having as a fundamental principle that the need for cultural and innovative expression is a prerequisite of human nature, Curious Qat promotes the idea that creativity and culture are essential components in cultivating active and effective citizens, inside and outside their borders. The mission of the organization is to contribute to the development of independent people, who, through their cultural development, discover their personal identity, as well as the identities of the people around them. Thus, they become better prepared to interact and work effectively in different cultural environments and can, in turn, contribute to the betterment of humanity.
