Christmas is all about people’s hearts opening to joy, love, hope and childlike wonder. The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Petros Stylianou, will put you into this festive mood with Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite no. 1, one of the quintessential musical expressions of the Christmas spirit, and a selection from Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé Suite, which abounds in beautiful melodies and originated as a film soundtrack.
In the second part of the concert, enjoy an uplifting selection of orchestrated Christmas Jazz classics featuring the established, amazing jazz musicians Ioanna Troullidou (voice), Charis Ioannou (saxophone) and Μarios Toumbas (piano) for your enjoyment. Happy Holidays!

Serbian Atsa has just discovered that while he was sent as a prisoner of war, at Peter's blacksmith shop in Germany, his wife became pregnant by Ivan, a Russian blacksmith. Having learned the truth about his son's paternity, he goes back to Germany, hoping to find a child of his own there. Inside a hardware store, the truth of three fathers and one mother unfolds in a comical and touching way. Τhe play, although written in 1991, has not lost its significance, and brings up issues that are a part of our present lives and destiny…”Blacksmiths” is a drama of cultivated expression, full with kind irony that sometimes turns into sarcasm. The play addresses a bloody problem situated in, as it seems, eternal algorithm of historical reality in this part of the world, from the perspective of slightly playful wise man.

Μέσα σε ένα νυχτερινό πορτραίτο, πέντε ταλαντούχοι μουσικοί παρουσιάζουν τη μουσική παράσταση ‘Nocturna’, όπου ο θεατής καλείται να αντιμετωπίσει την ίδια του την ύπαρξη όπως αυτή συντίθεται από το φως και το σκοτάδι του.

Η νύχτα, λειτουργώντας ως χώρος και χρόνος προσωπικού στοχασμού, αποτελεί την αφορμή για την παρουσίαση ρεπερτορίου της εγχώριας και της διεθνούς μουσικής σκηνής που δημιουργεί αναπάντεχα την αίσθηση της νοσταλγίας και του ονείρου, αλλά προβάλλει ταυτόχρονα την εικόνα της ωμής πραγματικότητας και των κοινωνικών προβλημάτων που παραμένουν αφώτιστα.
