On January 17 Kirill Richter and the Richter Trio will present the program “Towards the Beloved City” in Cyprus. This waltz cycle, which has only been performed in its entirety in London and Switzerland, will now be performed for the Cypriot public.

The waltz cycle “Towards the Beloved City” is a musical reflection on love, the path to oneself and the search for inner harmony. “My music is a soundtrack of life,” says Kirill Richter. “The stories I tell through music somehow resonate in other lives, creating the feeling that we all speak the same language.”

Nicosia 2030, a candidate for the European Capital of Culture, as part of its initiative to support young creators in the framework of the #Under30 programme, presents the concert by Zina Melekki titled "Echoes Across Divides". This musical journey will take place on Friday, 10 January 2025 (20:30), at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, as part of the 5^th Nicosia International Festival.

Zina grew up in Paralimni, deeply connected to the pain left behind by the Turkish Invasion. She recalls school trips to the Cultural Centre of Derynia, where students would use binoculars to view the ghost city of Famagusta. Everywhere, there were constant reminders of loss and division, which affected every generation. We grew up in a country where our map was divided by a line.

The Ordinary Story | The Ordinary Story

"The Ordinary Story" is a novel written by the Russian classic Ivan Goncharov in 1847. The play based on the novel was first staged in 1966 at the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre.

In 2015, Kirill Serebrennikov staged a modern adaptation of this play at the Gogol-Center in Moscow, transferring the plot to Russia in the 2010s. The play became one of the most popular at the theater.

In 2023, "The Ordinary Story" returned to the stage - as a joint project of the socio-cultural platform DrugDrugu and the Kirill&Friends Foundation in Belgrade. This is the first premiere of the Gogol-Center Theater after the closure of the theater's physical space in Moscow in 2022.

The European premiere of the play will take place in Cyprus on January 8, 2025.

The play has been adapted for Russian-speaking and English-speaking audiences.

Σαν το πρώτο «σπάσιμο» μιας παρτίδας μπιλιάρδου.
